Whether regulatory bodies require it or not, I think disclosure is important for trust and transparency. This page outlines my blanket views/policies on the major issues in blogging.

Why I blog.

I blog because I like to write. I blog so my family knows some of what's going on in our lives. I blog because I like to share our stories and my thoughts with the people who like to read them. 

My occasional work with PR firms.

Every now and then I work with PR firms and I've gotten free stuff like cars (not forever - just for a trip, though forever would be nice, eh?), books, other miscellaneous swag at conferences and other events. Most of it I never even mention here. But if I do benefit in some way from something I'm talking about on my blog, I will tell you. 

A review or product mention on Karen's Chronicles doesn't necessarily mean compensation happened.

If I review something that I've received for free or am compensated in some way, I will disclose that in the post. Where I don't say I'm compensated, then it's because I really like it and have a keen interest. When I remember, I'll put a disclaimer that I'm not being compensated just in case people don't come read this page. 

My take on privacy.

You'll notice that I don't talk about anyone by name or identifying details other than my husband or son or other blogger types like myself. That's because I don't want to tell other people's stories here. I don't share guest posts here and as long as it's called "Karen's Chronicles" I never will. I don't even respond to pitches asking me to publish content from others as part of their link building efforts.
